Sr. Laser Engineer

Job Responsibilities:  
We are seeking a Laser Engineer to join our advanced technology group. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in both laser technology development leadership as well as bring products into world-class, high-volume manufacturing environments. In this role you will be responsible for developing the next generation laser systems. You will be developing and growing a world-class engineering workforce as a competitive advantage for the business. You will be accountable for developing new laser technology and products from concept to production, from component-level prototypes to evaluation of final product performance. You will be working with other senior engineers across the organization to establish strategic plans and objectives. This role requires decisions on administrative and operational matters pertaining to the laser group to ensure effective achievement of objectives.
  •   Establish a robust and cost competitive strategic partner network and supply chain for all laser engines
  •   Develop, evangelize and materialize the laser technology roadmap for LiDAR
  •   Ability to set a vision and engage own team to reach that vision
  •   Help build and manage company’s laser IP portfolio
  •   Assume responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks
  •   Seeks appropriate input to decisions and recognizes the impact and implications for other areas
  •   Maintain leadership and technical capabilities through continued education or training
  •   Provides timely and regular performance feedback to all associates
  •   Builds and nurtures a high performing and engaged team
Skills Required: 
  • Technical discipline scope encompasses semiconductor (III-V), fiber, optical, mechanical, electrical test and reliability
  • High-volume packaging experience
  • Technical and market prowess of semiconductor and solid-state lasers
  • Extensive hands-on experience with optical systems
  • Ability to comprehensively research, understand and report on new concepts and technologies
  • Strong modeling and analysis capability
  • Agile learner, tolerant of risk, and biased towards action
  • Masters in Optics Physics or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with diode and fiber laser system design
  • Expert knowledge in related technical fields (optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal)
  • Decision making is timely, practical, clear, and open
Preferred Skills:
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Ph.D. in Optics Physics or Engineering
