Systems Test Engineer

Job Responsibilities:  
We are seeking a talented Systems Test Engineer to contribute to our LIDAR system development, integration, and test. The successful candidate will join a cross-functional team that combines light sources, beam delivery systems, detectors, firmware, and software to create market-leading LIDAR systems. The position requires an understanding of optical and electrical system design, data acquisition, and data analysis. The individual will focus on the design verification of new products and documentation. The person we are looking for will not spend all their time sitting behind a desk analyzing data. Our engineers are hands-on while troubleshooting the system, and characterizing the design constraints for next-generation products.

  • Design verification of new sub-systems and functionality at a systems level
  • Perform root cause analysis for Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, and/or management as needed
  • Able to design, procure parts for, build, align and calibrate custom testbeds and test equipment, test instrument control and data acquisition hardware
  • Work closely with Systems Engineering Team to interpret system requirements, develop test plans and analyze data
  • Create internal documentation of test plans, analyses and test results
Skills Required:
  • Experience with troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis of both optical and electronic systems
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics/Photonics, Physics or related discipline
  • Experience (including coursework) with Matlab, R, Python, or C/C++ for data analysis
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently
  • Must have hands-on experience with setting up optical test benches as well as at least one of the following - sources, detectors, camera, sensors, or lasers
  • Must have hands-on experience with characterization and/or diagnostic equipment
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with optical system characterization
  • Experience with free-space optical systems, imaging systems, or LiDAR systems
  • Experience with LabView for instrument control
  • Experience with environmental test chambers (temperature/humidity) as well as electro- dynamic shakers for vibration/shock testing
